2016 Summer Reading Program for Kids

runners

It is time for another fun summer of reading! This year's theme is On Your Mark, Get Set--Read! The focus is on sports, health, and fitness--perfect for the upcoming Summer Olympics. Registration begins on May 31, so stop by either location to pick up your first Olympic card. The program will run June 6-July 29 for eight weeks of reading, and each weekly card will feature a different Olympic event. Medal in reading by reading/being read to for a minimum of two hours each week. Readers receive a prize when they complete cards 2, 4, 6, and 8, and completing an odd-numbered card earns an entry into our grand prize drawing.

The children's program is for kids ages 3 through entering grade 5. The teen program is for students in grades 6-12, and there is also an adult program for ages 18+, so the whole family can participate.

Each hour you read will help raise money for Special Olympics. Vanderloop Shoes and FOLKS are matching donors, so we will donate more money the more you read. The goal is to have kids, teens, and adults reach 25,000 hours of reading this summer which will earn $1000 for Special Olympics. We need to reach 15,000 hours to give $300 and 20,000 hours to give $600. Let's go for the gold and reach that top mark for the highest donation!
