Books & Brews

Author: Denise Kiernan

Meet us at Seth's Coffee for a new book club for the 20's & 30's crowd. We'll be discussing The Girls of Atomic City by Denise Kiernan. This is the incredible story of the young women of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, one of the Manhattan Project's secret cities, who unwittingly played a crucial role in one of the most significant moments in US history. Like "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks," this is history and science made fresh and vibrant--a beautifully told, deeply researched story that unfolds in a suspenseful and exciting way.

2015 Summer Reading Program

Kimberly-Little Chute Library has summer reading programs for ages 3 through adult, so sign up the entire family for some summer fun. Be sure to thank our program sponsors - we wouldn't have nearly as much fun without them!

Important dates:

  • May 26 - registration begins - sign up at the library
  • June 8 - program begins
  • July 31 - program ends

About the Program

This year's theme for the summer is the same for all ages: Every Hero Has a Story!

Check our online calendar for a complete list of events for all ages. Hours of reading this summer will help raise money for three local charities:

  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • Chances Animal Rescue
  • A Very Special Place.

Each time a weekly reading card is turned in, readers will vote for a charity plus earn a grand prize entry form. Votes will be tallied throughout the program, and the charity with the most votes will receive $500, second place $300, and third place $200.

Kids and teens will also earn a free book prize when they complete cards 3, 6, & 8. Be a hero for someone else and keep your brain "super" strong this summer by participating in Every Hero Has a Story
