Unique Monoprint Workshop

Tuesday, October 23, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Little Chute Public Library

Ages 16 and up are welcome to join us for this free workshop by our artist in residence, Tyla Hilfreich of Hilfreich Studio. Registration is required and opens on September 23rd, 2018.  Invite friends, ask questions and more in the Facebook event.

Discover new artistic possibility when you combine collage and multimedia with monoprinting techniques. First we will layer colors, patterns, and textures on a piece of artistic paper. Then we will integrate monoprint and collage techniques using masks and stencils to build images directly onto paper. The limitations between painting, monoprinting, and collage disappear as you gain a fluidity of process and new creative expression.

Additionally, you’ll learn interesting things about the history of printmaking AND you’ll be able to choose from over 10 different wood block graphics (created by Hilfreich) to make a unique one-of-a-kind work of art, printed by you!

In this workshop we will focus on color, line, shape, contrast, movement, and emphasis on certain areas. Learn balance between smooth/textured; dull/bright; busy/quiet; large/small, et cetera. You’ll learn the tools you’ll need to find the perfect ying and yang for your work of art.
